TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – Some P3 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during an aggressive anti-illegal drug operation at barangay Butbut Proper here over the weekend.
Police authorities disclosed that the government operating troops were able to discover some 16,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants in two separate plantation sites in the said area during the intensified operation.
All these marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite, with sufficient samples taken to the Kalinga Provincial Forensic Unit, while operatives are currently conducting an intensive investigation to identify the cultivators and searching adjacent areas for po
tential marijuana plantation sites.
Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, Jr., regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, commended the efforts and hard work of the operatives to discover large-scale marijuana plantations as this signifies their resolute commitment to bring those who are involved in its cultivation and distribution to justice.
