LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P4.3 million worth of marijuana were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during the implementation of intensified anti-marijuana eradication operations in Benguet and Kalinga recently.
In Benguet, five marijuana plantation sites with 11,500 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP), 1,200 marijuana seedlings, and 6,620 grams of dried marijuana stalks, with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P3,142,400.00, were discovered by the joint operatives of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), Regional Intelligence Division of PRO CAR, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-CAR in barangay Tacadang, Kibungan and barangay Kayapa, Bakun.
Meanwhile, in Kalinga, one marijuana plantation site planted with 6,000 FGMJP with an SDP of P1,200,000.00 was found by the joint forces of Kalinga PPO and PDEA-Kalinga in barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and incinerated on-site, with adequate samples collected for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR. Additionally, investigations are currently underway to locate other potential marijuana cultivation sites in surrounding areas and to identify those responsible for the cultivation activities.
