LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P40 million worth of illegal drugs were seized and destroyed while some fifteen drug personalities were arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents in separate aggressive anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the Cordillera from July 15-21, 2024.
Police authorities stated that a total of 47 operations were conducted in Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Baguio City, Ifugao, and Kalinga that resulted in the confiscation of 193, 980 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants, 1,650 pieces of marijuana seedlings, 11,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, and 29.63 grams of shabu, with a combined total value of P40,383,484.00.
The most significant operations took place in Kalinga, where the operatives were able to conduct 14 marijuana eradication operations, two buy-bust operations, and one checkpoint, which resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at P35,629,640.00 and the arrest of two drug personalities listed as Street Level Individuals.
Moreover, in Benguet, six drug personalities were arrested and P4,571,948.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized; in Ifugao, P58,000.00 worth of marijuana plants were eradicated; and in Baguio City, four drug personalities were arrested and P93,908.00 worth of shabu were confiscated.
Meanwhile, in Abra, two high value drug personalities were also apprehended and P29,988.00 worth of shabu were seized; and in Apayao, another high value drug personality was nabbed through the service of a warrant of arrest implemented by the operatives.
Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, Jr., regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, praised the relentless efforts of PRO-CAR cops, underscoring their significant impact in curbing illegal drug activities in the region.
