KIBUGAN, Benguet – Some P420,000 worth of marijuana plants were torched into ashes by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during the conduct of a marijuana eradication operation at sitio Gusingao, Tacadang, here, recently.
A marijuana eradication operation was conducted by the joint operatives of the Kibungan Municipal Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Division-PRO Cordillera, Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Benguet PPO, and PDEA-CAR at Sitio Gusingao in Barangay Tacadang. This operation led to the discovery of 2,100 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants with Standard Drug Price of P420,000.00.
All the discovered marijuana plants were burned on-site, with samples taken to the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera for qualitative tests. Meanwhile, the Benguet PPO continues to investigate to locate other marijuana plantation sites and apprehend the cultivators.
PRO-CAR Regional Director, PBGen. David K. Peredo, Jr., emphasized proactive strategies to prevent marijuana cultivation as he called for increased surveillance, community engagement, and educational programs to raise awareness about the dangers and legal consequences of marijuana cultivation and use.
