LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P445,000 worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during the implementation of separate anti-illegal drug operations in Kibungan and Bakun towns recently.
In Kibungan, 1,150 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) and 375 pieces of marijuana seedlings with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P245,000.00 were discovered across four marijuana plantation sites in Brgy. Tacadang by the joint operatives of 2nd Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, Kibungan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Benguet PPO, Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-CAR, Regional Intelligence Unit 14 (RIU-14), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Meanwhile, in Bakun, a marijuana plantation site planted with 1,000 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of P200,000.00 was discovered in Barangay Kayapa by the joint operatives of Bakun MPS, PDEU and Provincial Intelligence Unit of Benguet PPO, RIU-14, and PDEA-CAR.
All discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site, with enough samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR. Further, investigations are ongoing to identify cultivators and locate other marijuana plantation sites in nearby areas. By Dexter A. See
