LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P5 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents in separate aggressive anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the Cordillera from August 2-8, 2024.
Police authorities stated that a total of 11 operations were conducted in the City of Baguio and in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga. These operations led to the confiscation of 18,010 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana plants, 13, 000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, and 1200 marijuana seedlings with a combined total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P5,210,000.00.
Noteworthy achievements include two significant marijuana eradication operations and one police response in Kalinga. These operations led to the seizure of marijuana plants with an SDP of P3,440,000.00.
Moreover, Benguet Police Provincial Office successfully eradicated P1,650, 000.00 worth of marijuana plants, while the other 1,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with an SDP of P120,000.00 were surrendered to Baguio cops.
Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, lauded the PRO-CAR cops for their hard work in fighting illegal drugs, emphasizing their commitment to keeping the region safe, stressing the importance of staying vigilant and taking proactive steps to prevent drug trafficking in the Cordillera, urging officers to continue their efforts to maintain a drug-free community.
