LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than P8.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized while some six suspects were arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during a series of anti-illegal drug operations in the different parts of the Cordillera on February 17-23, 2025.
During the weeklong campaign, 20 operations were conducted across the region, leading to the confiscation of 35,120 fully grown marijuana plants, 6,000.05 grams of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, 4,500 grams of dried marijuana stalks, and 25.49 grams of suspected shabu, with a combined total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P8,457,338.00. Additionally, these operations resulted in the arrest of six drug personalities, all listed as Street Level Individuals (SLIs).
The most significant operations took place in Benguet, where the Cabalyero Cops of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) eradicated marijuana plants worth P5,784,000.00 followed by the Lumin-awa Cops of Kalinga PPO seizing illegal drugs with an SDP of P2,572,080.00 and apprehending an SLI.
Further, in Abra, the Abante Cops of the Abra PPO confiscated suspected shabu with an SDP of PhP51,612.00 and arrested two SLIs. In Baguio City, the Napino Cops of the Baguio City Police Office seized suspected shabu valued at P47,600.00 and apprehended two SLIs. Meanwhile, in Apayao, a successful search warrant operation implemented by the Pasindayaw Cops of the Apayao PPO led to the arrest of one SLI and the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P2,046.00.
“These successful operations highlight the steadfast commitment of PRO CAR to eliminating illegal drug activities in the region,” said PRO CAR Regional Director, PBGEN David K. Peredo, Jr. “These also exemplify the dedication of our police officers to the anti-drug campaign and emphasize our vital role in ensuring public safety and building trust within the communities it serves”, he added.
