LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office conducted a weeklong local tour guiding and reception training at the Capitol Resort Hotel in Lingayen.
Held from January 22 to 29, the training was participated in by 25 employees from different offices of the provincial government.
As disclosed by Monika ‘ Myka’ Labaupa, Tourism Operations Officer II, the training aims to develop and sustain a workforce who will serve as tour guides and frontliners of the provincial government.
She added that after undergoing the six-day training, the participants will become auxiliary tour guides for various familiarization tour projects of the provincial government.
During the training, the participants were expected to internalize the following: learn the culture of service and cooperation within the provincial government; appreciate the value of tourism in the province; create a favorable impression and atmosphere of warm hospitality towards visitors; gain knowledge on various tour guiding roles, responsibilities and techniques.
Conducted by the PTCAO with the assistance of the Pangasinan Tour Guides Association (PTGA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT), the training lectures/activities include: Personality Development and Effective Customer Service; Pangasinan History and Related Philippine History; general Profile of Pangasinan and Its Industries; Effective Communication for Front Liners; Practical Communication Skills Workshop; Elements of Tour Guiding; Tourist Behavior and Market Profile; Tour Guides Codes of Conduct; Developing Tour Commentaries.
Governor Amado I. Espino III graced the closing ceremony on January 29.
