LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The vital roles of day care workers in barangays have been given with due respect and appreciation as the present provincial administration hailed about 600 day care workers in Pangasinan who participated in the 4th Day Care Workers’ Provincial Convention held at the Sison Auditorium recently.
The provincial convention which included lectures on child care and development also served as opportunity for day care workers to level up their capabilities to cater holistic development of children during their formative years.
Addressing the day care workers during the convention’s opening ceremonies held on June 4, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., who was invited as keynote speaker, took pride of the noble job of day care workers of the province.
“You are the ones who assist and guide our children to the right direction. In your best ways, you exert extra-efforts to do best for the children,” Vice Governor Calimlim stressed as he noted that the sacrifices and enduring hard work of day care workers must be paid off with more privileges and benefits.
In aid of legislation, the Vice Governor said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) will lobby for an increase of the amelioration or cash incentive for day care workers. The amelioration is sourced out from the trust fund of the provincial government.
In support to the proposal for amelioration increase, Board Member Amado I. Espino, III, invited guest of honor and speaker during the convention’s socialization activity, informed that Governor Espino has expressed support for the increase of their incentive even as he said that amelioration distribution will be scheduled this year.
The present provincial administration has been supportive of thousands of day care workers in Pangasinan because, “We really appreciate the efforts and sacrifices you are doing in your respective barangays,” BM Espino, Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President, said.
“Ang pagod at hirap nyo ay hindi mapapantayan,” Espino told the day care workers as he thanked them for molding the minds of children in barangays whom he cited as “future leaders of Pangasinan.”
Said convention was organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWDO) led by the office’s chief Emil Samson in partnership with Provincial Day Care Workers’ Federation of Pangasinan (PDCWFP).
The following topics were discussed by invited experts during the two-day activity: Republic Act 7610 “Special Protection of Children against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act,” Strategies for Early Childhood Teachers, Your Health! It Really Matters, and DepEd Orders and Related Laws for Pre-Schoolers.
