LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Awarding certified palay seeds and fertilizers which aims to reinforce and increase the agricultural productivity of farmers in the province, Governor Amado I. Espino, III has also sought unified efforts of farmers’ associations for the common good in Pangasinan.
“Pagsama-samahin po natin ang ating kagalingan at lakas upang mapagsilbihan ang bawat miyembro ng inyong pamilya at ang ating probinsya.”
In leading the ceremonial distribution of a total of 2,400 bags of certified palay seeds and 2,400 bags of fertilizers held at the Alaminos City Sport Center recently, the provincial chief executive said that it is also important that farmers take care of their health.
“Kung ano po ang inyong pag-aalaga sa inyong pangangatawan, ‘yun po ang pag-aalaga ninyo sa inyong sinasaka,” Governor Espino stated.
Governor Espino also bared the benefits of Philippine Rural Development Program (PDRP), a special program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) which aims to boost the agricultural sector as he urged farmers who are still not members of any association or cooperative recognized by the provincial government to form their own group to avail of this program.
“Ito po ay maliit na tulong sa pakikipagtulungan ninyo at ng provincial government kasama na rin ang inyong LGU,” said Governor Espino emphasizing that the provincial government remains steadfast in supporting agricultural undertakings advocating farmers’ interests and competence.
Assisting Governor Espino during the awarding were: Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., Alaminos City Mayor Arthur F. Celeste, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay F. Moya and Asst. Provincial Agriculturist Nestor F. Batalla.
In total, 8 municipalities and 1 city received certified palay seeds and fertilizers including: Agno with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers; Anda with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers; Bani with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers; Burgos with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers; Dasol with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers; Mabini with 300 bags of palay seeds and 300 bags of fertilizers; Infanta with 250 bags of palay seeds and 250 bags of fertilizers ; Sual with 300 bags of palay seeds and 300 bags of fertilizers; and Alaminos City with 300 bags of palay seeds and 300 bags of fertilizers.
