DAGUPAN CITY – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) reminded all motorists anew to check not only their cars before driving but also their body and mind conditions to prevent vehicular accidents.
PMAJ Ria Tacderan, provincial information officer of Pangasinan PPO, encouraged all motorists travelling to far places, especially those using their own vehicles to take extra precaution and observe road safety this long holiday weekend.
“Halos araw-araw ay mayroon po tayong naitatalang disgrasya sa kalsada at ang nakakalungkot ay minsan ay nakakapagtala po tayo ng limang kaso ng vehicular incidents sa iba’t ibang distrito ng Pangasinan sa loob lamang ng isang araw,” Tacderan said.
She said motorists should always keep their calm while driving, always obey the traffic rules and speed limits, and should have enough rest and in good condition before going on a long drive.
“Siguruhin po ninyong hindi lamang ang inyong sasakyan ang nakakondisyon kundi maging ang inyong sarili bago kayo magmaneho,” said Tacderan.
Tacderan shared the following tips to remember for those who are going for a long drive:
- Check the BLOWBAGETS checklist (Battery, Light, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Engine, Tires and Self)
- Vehicle documents such as Certificate of Registration (CR), Official Receipt (OR) as well as the driver’s license should be kept inside the vehicle in case of emergency and checkpoint; and
- See to it that the driver had enough rest and in good condition before going on a long drive.
Tacderan also reminded motorists to never drive under the influence of liquor or not emotionally and mentally conditioned to drive.
Meanwhile, Tacderan said police personnel in the province will also provide road safety services to those travelling this long holiday weekend as the Pangasinan PPO ensures maximum deployment in places of convergence for safe and secure New Year revelry in the province. By ELSHA MARIE S. ARGUEL
