TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Federated Parents Teachers Association, in partnership with the Department of Education-Tabuk, Philippine National Police, and the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Office and the Population Development Office, conducted a one-day seminar for the students of Calaccad National High School (CNHS) belonging to grades seven to 10 on May 8, 2024.
With the theme “Basic Education in-action in all Level of Governance and Sectors Working for Initiative for Success,” the seminar aims to inform and educate the students on their rights and privileges as youth and learners, as well as mental health and how they can cope with stress.
Hon. Eduardo Sacayle, Sangguniang Panglunsod Chairperson on Education, lauded the students and their parents for attending said event.
Sacayle assured that the city government fully support the program and that the CNHS had already been the 15th school in the city they visited.
He went on to say that the attendees should pay great attention to the presenters because every subject they will cover is crucial for them to comprehend and utilize for their future and general well-being.
“Denggen yu dagiti speakers’ tapnu mai-introduce dagituy nga adal, karkaru kadakayu nga estudyante, tapnu mai-inculcate kadakayu dagiti bawal nga aramiden iti uneg iskwelaan kada balay,” he said.
(Pay attention to the speakers so that you, especially the students, are introduced to these lessons and learn what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior at home and in schools.)
Speakers from the following offices discussed topics that address issues faced by most young learners in school such as the CSWD on Child Protection and Responsibilities and Mental Health; 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company on Anti-bullying; Cyber Bullying; Anti-insurgency and provisions of RA 9344 (Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006); and personnel of Population Commission on Adolescent Health and Teen-age Pregnancies.
