BAGUIO CITY – SM City Baguio is initiating a lighted traditional parol design and making contest in the spirit of Christmas in the city. The contest is open to all groups of elementary and high school students.
Contestants can be composed of a minimum of three members to a maximum of five per group. There is no limit on the number of groups per school. A group can only send one entry per mall but can join as many SM malls.
Contestants can be as creative and innovative in choosing their material for their entries. Entries with lighting should work with batteries as SM will not provide electrical outlets. Each entry should be within the specified size as follows: height: maximum 5 feet | minimum 3 feet width: maximum 4 feet minimum 3 feet.
Participating groups will be responsible for procuring their materials. SM Supermalls will provide the hanging device (bar, steel cords, etc.) and information card. The lantern should represent/reflect the SM Supermalls theme “The Magic of Christmas” and showcase the beauty of lights and magical elements.
Each participating entry should submit a filled up registration form of participation until Nov. 30, 2016. The registration form should be signed and endorsed by the school principal/headmaster. The registration form is available at the SM City Baguio Administration Office.
Entries, together with a professionally shot group photo, should be submitted on or before November 30, 2016, 6:00 p.m., at the SM City Baguio Administration Office.
The judging and Grand Launch of Entries will be on December 1, at SM City Baguio. The criteria for judging are as follows: 40 percent craftsmanship, 40 percent adherence to the theme, 20 percent overall impact (to include likes in Facebook, Instagram and in-mall votes feedback) to make a total of 100 percent.
The winner will receive a prize of P 15,000.00 CASH, second place P 10,000.00 CASH, and thirdpPlace P 5,000.00 CASH. All participating groups will be given P 1,000 CASH as a consolation prize.
The decision of SM shall be final and binding. A representative from DTI will be invited by SM to witness the selection of the winning entries.
