PASAY CITY – Under the leadership of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., through his “Bagong Pilipinas” tagline aims to create more opportunities locally to Filipinos, “Sa bagong Pilipinas, nais natin itong (overseas work) maging isang alternatibo na lamang dahil mas marami ang pagkakataon sa loob ng bansa,” as he delivered his speech on the celebration of Overseas Filipino Family Day 2023.
Then, Marcos discussed a few of the initiatives his administration had put in place to assist the OFWs, such as the creation of a special hotline for them at 1348 via One Repatriation Command Center, reintegration programs like Livelihood Development Assistance Program, Balik Pinay Balik Hanapbuhay, Financial Awareness Seminar, Small Business Management Training, OFW Children’s Circle, OWA Education and Training Program and Educational Assistance, Enterprise Development Loan Program, and Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Pag-unlad ng Samahang OFW. In addition, he also gave highlight to the foundation of OFW Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga to cater the medical needs of OFWs and their families.
All of these benefits are made for the OFWs for them to have an access to various training in becoming more efficient on the growing demands of different industries and to better start after the pandemic. “Kasabay ng pagkayod ninyo sa ibayong dagat para sa mas magandang buhay ng inyong pamilya ay ang aming pagsisikap na magpaulad pa lalo ang ating bansa upang sa inyong pagbabalik ay makita naman ninyo ang malaking pagbabago dito sa Pilipinas”, Marcos said.
He also gave emphasis on the sacrifices of OFWs and their hard work which has a great contribution to the country’s economy, “ Sa ating mga OFW na araw-araw ay nagpapamalas ng sipag, husay at katatagan sa inyong mga profession ay siyang maipagmamalaki natin sa buong mundo,” Marcos concluded.
