LUNA, Apayao – His Excellency President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. (PBBM) distributed the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolks, and Families (PAFFF) in the BGV Jr. Memorial Sports Complex in Luna, Apayao on July 19, 2024.
The PAFFF is a financial assistance from the Office of the President in support of the El Nino-affected farmers and fishers nationwide. Under the PAFFF, each beneficiary validated by the Department of Agriculture (DA) will be receiving a P10,000 cash aid with a maximum of 5,000 beneficiaries per province.
PBBM, together with DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. and Dept. of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rexlon T. Gatchalian distributed the P10,000 cash to 25 farmer-beneficiaries across the region. The President also awarded the ceremonial checks to the six provinces in CAR. These were duly received by the provincial governors.
The provinces of Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province that were severely affected by the El Nino received Php50 Million each followed by Abra with P34.520 Million, and Benguet with P29.740 Million totaling P264.260 Million presidential assistance for the Cordillera region.
The provincial local government units will be leading the distribution of the fund assistance to the identified beneficiaries in their areas within the given timeframe.
It was recalled that the El Nino phenomenon hit the country last year until the second quarter of 2024. The agricultural sector in CAR has recorded damages and losses to livestock and crop production valued at Php1.2 Billion and has affected at least 20,000 farmers. By JBAgrifino
