BONTOC, Mountain Province – The members of the Philippine Councilors League-Mountain Province Chapter (PCL-MPC) led by their President, Kapon B. Gomgom-o, gathered at the Governor Leonard G. Mayaen Sports Complex to celebrate the Provincial Councilors Day on September 19, 2024.
Joining the PCL-MPC members in their celebration were Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Ricardo M. Masidong, Jr., Henry D. Bastian, Jr., and Ken Paulo P. Nacnas, Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Evelyn B. Trinidad, Vice Mayors Elizabeth Buyagan of Besao and Bartolome Badecao of Bauko.
According to Gomgom-o, the celebration of Provincial Councilors Day was conducted by virtue of Provincial Ordinance no. 483 which declares every third Thursday of September as Provincial Councils Day in Mountain Province. He also said that the celebration has become a platform for the PCL members to meet, give updates and discuss programs, projects and activities that can further help the province and its communities.
“Let us continue to show our passion and dedication, so that we will leave a footprint for our constituents to remember,” Gomgom-o said.
During the celebration, Lacwasan encouraged the members of the PCL-MPC to continue working for the betterment of their respective community, asking everyone to stand united as one people, to quickly find resolutions to address any problems, and to prioritize the best interest of the public.
“I have personally witnessed how working together and openly communicating with one another have been effective tools in ensuring that projects and programs get implemented fast. These are practices we do in our own executive and legislative branches and in the different offices of the Provincial Government. Let us all continue to prioritize quality services to our communities.,” Lacwasan said.
Moreover, Trinidad explained how unity in governance promotes trust. She said, “when people trust their leaders and institutions, they are more willing to engage in collective efforts to address societal challenges, be they economic disparities, environmental crises, or social inequality. This trust lays the foundation for collaboration, where public and private sectors, civil society and individuals work hand-in-hand toward common goals.” By Hail, MP
