BAGUIO CITY – The city government recognized the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) under the City Mayor’s Office for garnering a notable overall score of 97 percent,, considered as ideal, in the evaluation conducted by the regional assessment team for the 2025 PDAO and Persons with Disability Focal Person functionality assessment for calendar year 2024.
In a certificate of commendation signed by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, the city stated that the PDAO and the PWD focal person’s dedication serves as an example of commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
The PDAO is currently headed by Dr. Samuel Aquino and is in charge of the various city government programs, projects and activities related to the improving the welfare of PWDs.
The certificate of commendation states that the PDAO and the PWD focal person have greatly contributed in improving the lives of PWDs and have advanced the principles of equality and social justice.
Further, it added that the PDA and PWD focal person’s excellence sets a high standard for their peers and serves as a true inspiration within the city.
For his part. Aquino expressed his gratitude to the regional assessment team and the city government for such recognition of their performance, saying that the PDAO and the PWD focal person are just performing their duties and responsibilities for the upliftment of the welfare of the PWDs in the different city barangays.
He assured the city’s PWD sector that the PDAO and PWD focal person will continue to work for the welfare of the members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors for them to maximize their potentials and contribute in improving their lives and become instrumental in the growth and development of their respective communities.
He said that the PDAO and the PWD focal person will continue to work for the enhanced welfare of the city’s PWD sector for them to be empowered residents of the city and mainstreamed to the communities where they are currently residing. By Dexter A. See
