BONTOC, Mountain Province – Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Chair and Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Edward F. Chumawar, Jr. presided over the council’s second quarter regular meeting, held at the Sibley Hall, All Saints Compound in the capital town on June 10, 2024.
During the meeting, the PDRRMC adopted and approved the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System Standard Operating Procedure of Mountain Province and the Evacuation Center Management System Guide and Plan.
According to PDRRMO Assistant Department Head Ian Neil D. Culallad, the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System Standard Operation Procedure is a set of detailed and written instructions aimed at ensuring a systematic and efficient response to various hazards such as extreme weather events, and other emergencies, that outlines the roles, responsibilities, and actions required to effectively monitor, detect, and respond to multiple types of hazards, thereby reducing risks and mitigating potential impacts on communities.
Culallad also relayed that the Evacuation Center Management System Guide and Plan is a comprehensive framework designed to ensure the efficient operation and management of evacuation centers during emergencies or disasters. He said that it involves multiple aspects, from setting up the evacuation centers to ensuring the safety and well-being of evacuees.
Moreover, the DILG MC No. 2024-074 which is the Listo sa Tag-Ulan: Preparedness Measures of Local Government Units for the Impending La Niña and Rainy Season, was also presented.
Meanwhile, the different council members reported on their respective office’s/ agency’s accomplishments and activities in relation to disaster mitigation and preparedness. By HENT
