TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has directed the Municipal DRRMOs and City DRRMO in the province to visit local resorts to assess their safety and emergency response readiness.
This is part of the preparedness plan for the upcoming holy week discussed at the PDRRMC First Quarter Meeting on March 21. Visitors and locals are anticipated to flock to said establishments to take advantage of the extended holiday during the holy week from April 2 to 8.
Abel Harvey Bartolome of the CDRRMO said that they will coordinate with the PNP, BFP, and OCTACA for the inspection of resorts in the city and update the council on their findings. He said that they will check the preparedness and safety measures of resort owners, including the presence of trained responders and the availability of emergency equipment.
Bartolome added that as part of OPLAN SUMVAC 2023, they will deploy Chico River Watch, assist in road monitoring, and provide motorist assistance in collaboration with the BFP and PNP. The CDRRMO will be on red alert status for the holy week for faster coordination with the barangays.
According to PDRRM Officer Jolanta Baac, they continue to work closely with all DRRMOs in the province to implement preparedness measures in their respective jurisdictions to ensure that the holy week will be safe and peaceful for both locals and tourists.
