PASAY CITY – PEZA recently concluded its productive participation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the agency featured eight PEZA locators that form part of the semiconductor and electronics global value chain.
Co-organized alongside the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc (SEIPI), and the Center for International Trade Exhibitions and Missions (CITEM), the Philippine pavilion at CES featured PEZA locators Ionics EMS, Inc., Xinyx Design Consultancy and Services Inc, Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc., Automated Technology (Phil) Inc., Leader Electronics (Philippines) Inc, Team Pacific Corporation, Tsukiden Electronics Philippines, Inc., and Int’l Precision Assemblies Inc, along with ecozone support enterprises Airspeed Philippines and Manila Electric Company (Meralco).
The Philippines’ participation at CES also included a showcase of 23 Filipino innovations presented by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Organized by the Consumer Technology Association, the CES is one of the largest and most influential tech trade shows in the world. It serves as a platform for global innovators and companies to feature breakthrough technologies aiming to become the latest solutions to the world’s biggest challenges.
Building New Connections at CES
Among the companies that PEZA met include Quintel Solutions, a subsidiary of long-standing PEZA locator Cirtek. Quintel is considered the global market leader for multiport antennas, serving leading Telecom carriers in North America.
The PEZA team also met with the top officials of ON Semiconductor Corporation (stylized and doing business as Onsemi), a leading semiconductor manufacturer with over 80,000 different parts, including advanced MOSFETs, Image Sensors, Silicon Carbide technology (EliteSiC) and a global supply chain. The company serves tens of thousands of customers across several markets. Onsemi has been registered with PEZA since 2007, operating facilities in PEZA zones in Tarlac, Cavite, and Mactan. The meeting allowed PEZA to provide an overview of the competitive fiscal incentives package that the Philippines offers following the passage of the CREATE MORE law, as well as understand how the agency can better support the company towards the goal of another expansion in the Philippines.
PEZA also worked on the leads of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Los Angeles through its Trade Commissioner Mr. Eric Elnar. Among those endorsed by PTIC-LA included Valmiz, a software development company; VANET Inc, a California-headquartered company that specializes in providing network solutions, and IPC International, the global association that helps OEMs, EMS, PCB manufacturers, cable and wire harness manufacturers and electronics industry suppliers build more reliable, high-quality products through proven standards, certification, education and training, thought leadership, advocacy, innovative solutions and industry intelligence.
PEZA also briefed the following companies on the fiscal incentives available under the CREATE More regime and other value proposition of the Philippines as an investment destination: Winstron NeWeb Corp., (wireless communication products), Logoline (BPO), and LJ1D Consulting (Specializes in MNCs relocating from China to ASEAN).
Alongside Science and Technology Secretary Dr. Renato Solidum Jr., Assistant Secretary Dr. Napoleon Juanillo Jr., and SEIPI President Dr. Danilo Lachica, Director General Tereso Panga participated at the World Electronics Forum breakfast at CES. With key leaders of the global electronics industry in attendance, the PEZA Chief provided an overview of the competitive advantages of locating manufacturing capabilities in PEZA zones, highlighting the strong EMS-SMS ecosystem hosted by PEZA.
Meanwhile, PEZA Enterprise Regulations Group Manager Atty. Ross Vincent Sy served as one of the speakers at the Philippine Business Forum at CES where he highlighted the unique pull factors for the Philippines and its strong regional performance, as well as an overview of the new incentives regime package that the Philippines offers through the recently enacted CREATE MORE Law.
PEZA’s participation at CES was capped by a dialogue hosted by world-renowned Filipino rap artist and staunch advocate of workforce development Apl.de.ap, with the end-goal of bringing new job opportunities for Filipinos through government and private sector collaboration.
Expanding Opportunities in San Francisco
The PEZA delegation proceeded to San Francisco to work on promising leads. Among those that the delegation met include Applied Materials, the global leader in materials engineering solutions. Applied Materials supplies equipment, services and software for the manufacture of semiconductor (integrated circuit) chips for electronics, flat panel displays for computers, smartphones, televisions, and solar products. The meeting allowed PEZA to gain valuable insights from Applied Materials on how to allow the Philippines to secure parts of the supply chain of equipment manufacturing.
Also included in the companies whom PEZA met is Enphase Energy, a market leader for intelligent microinverters with manufacturing capabilities in the USA. Enphase’s microinverter allows the conversion of DC to AC electricity, which provides users the safest, most reliable, and cost-efficient way of harnessing solar power. PEZA and Enphase agreed to continue discussions in the Philippines to form part of PEZA’s sustainability initiatives.
The PEZA delegation also participated in company visits organized by the DTI through PTIC-Silicon Valley headed by its Trade Commissioner Anne Marie Kristine Umali, which included visits to Nvidia and Tesla. NVIDIA is a software and fabless company which designs and supplies graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interfaces (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing, and system on a chip units (SoCs) for mobile computing and the automotive market. Nvidia is also a dominant supplier of artificial intelligence (AI) hardware and software. On the other hand, Tesla designs, manufactures and sells battery electric vehicles (BEVs), stationary battery energy storage devices from home to grid-scale, solar panels and solar shingles, and related products and services.
“I am upbeat with the reception from the US Companies and the possibility that they may invest in the Philippines in the near future. Some talks have already started, jumping-off from the initial engagement, to realize these potential investments in the coming months. Given the positive economic performance of the Philippines due to the reforms initiated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., I have no doubt that we will be able to convince these companies in making PEZA their investment partner and the Philippines as their hub of business operations in ASEAN,” said Tereso Panga, PEZA’s Director General.
