TUBA, Benguet – Philex Mining Corporation, one of the country’s largest gold and copper producer, acquired a brand new ambulance as part of its unwavering commitment to community welfare and health care support to its host and neighboring communities.
Philex resident manager \Engr. Ricardo Dulipas II recently turned over the P2.6 million ambulance equipped with modern medical facilities, to Dra. Marielle Ventinilla, manager of the company’s medical department.
The said turnover was witnessed by Administrative and Legal Department Manager lawyer Eduardo M. ‘Aratas, Christopher P. Cheno and other Philex officers and employees.
The purchase of the said ambulance is part of the company’s commitment to enhance its emergency response for the benefit of its host and neighboring communities as the new ambulance which is designed to support both basic and advance life saving care will not only serve the immediate community but will also provide critical transport to major hospitals in Baguio city for patients needed higher level medical treatment from appropriately equipped facilities outside the area.
Rev. Fr. Mario Tambic, who blessed the newly purchased ambulance, invoked prayers for safety, healing and protection for patients, personnel and other medical responders who will be using the said vehicle for emergency response, health care among others.
The purchase of the new ambulance is part of the company’s Social Development Management Program (SDMP_ pursuant to existing laws, rules and regulations.
Further, the said purchase highlights the company’s role in advancing responsible mining and showcasing its identity of being a trusted partner for community development.
Under the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, mining companies are mandated to apportion funds for the implementation of identified SDMP projects in close coordination with its host and neighboring communities. By Dexter A. See
