TUBA, Benguet – Philex Mining Corporation honored its outstanding employees and those with exemplary performances in their respective fields during the Araw ng Parangal held at its Pacdal mine site here Saturday.
The awarding rites coincided with the celebration of the 62nd feast of the Sto. Niño de Prague, the mining company’s patron saint, which is done every third week of January.
6 of the awardees were recognized for having completed 25 years in service while the other 6 workers were recognized for their exemplary performance in their fields of expertise while in the mine site.
The 25-year service awardees were Enrico F. Arceo of Magsaysay, Loakan Proper, Baguio City who is from the legal department; Engr. Paul C. Ngoddo of Kias, Baguio City who is from the mine operation group; Aida Elvira N. Padagas of Don Lorenzo St., Caoayan, Ilocos Sur who is from the assay department; Rosalia D. Sabelo of Ligay, Camp 1, Tuba, Benguet who is from the general services department; Mila O. Salinas of Mangaldan, Pangasinan who is from the community relations department and Maria Theresa A. Navarro of Bucayab, Bauang, La Union who is from the Philex Mines Elementary School, Inc..
On the other hand, the 2021-2022 Best Surface Miner was conferred on Jail Y. Piguro of La Trinidad, Benguet who gave 11 years of service to the company. Married to Jenny Piguro of Tuba, Benguet, a midwife at the Sto. Niño hospital in the mine camp, he has one child. His working days for the fiscal year were 278 days free of accidents and with no safety violation.
Bernard F. Molina of Osiem, Mangaldan, Pangasinan was recognized as the Best Underground Miner. Married to Ana Norwena V. Molina from Mangaldan, Pangasinan, they are gifted with 2 daughters who are pursuing their studies. He accumulated some 291 work days during the fiscal year with zero accidents and no safety violation.
Franklin G. de Francia alias ‘Pindang’ was named as the Best Underground Safety Inspector. He hails from Bokod, Benguet and is married to Loida Ganipes de Francia and blessed with 3 children who are all professionals, one a teacher, another a medical technologist and the 3rd a graduate of business administration major in operations management. He is a duly-registered safety inspector with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. He recorded free lost time accidents with 272 working days for the covered period and had dedicatedly discharged his duties and responsibilities as a safety practitioner.
Sonny M. Navarro of Asingan, Pangasinan was cited as the Best Surface Safety Inspector. He is married to Aurelia Corpuz Navarro of Asingan, Pangasinan where they were blessed with 3 children, the eldest is a nurse working in Saudi Arabia, the second is a registered mining engineer and is currently an international student at Centennial College in Ontario, Canada while the youngest is a Grade 3 pupil at the Philex Elementary School. He is also a registered safety inspector with the MGB. With 272 days’ work, he had zero accident and no safety violation and zero lost time accident.
Teodoro Guiniguin of Baguio City was awarded the Best Surface Mine Supervisor. He is married to Sylvia Guiniguin from Tuba, Benguet and were blessed with 5 children, a son and 4 daughters. There are some 15 men under his supervision and the recorded number of days work for the fiscal year with no safety violations and incident of 243 days.
The Best Underground Mine Supervisor went to Ben P. Mariano of Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. He is married to Rowena Mariano from Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya and they are blessed with 2 sons and a daughter. He recorded 276 days of work with zero lost time accident with no safety violation.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, Philex president and chief executive officer Engr. Eulalio B. Austin, Jr., newly promoted Philex vice president for operations Engr. Ricardo Dolipas II and other labor and mining company officials spearheaded the distribution of the plaques of recognition to the awardees.
The 25-year service awardees got a certificate of recognition and a gold-plated watch each in recognition of their dedicated service to the company over the past two decades.
