TUBA, Benguet – The Philex Mining Corporation (PMC) will be celebrating the 59th annual feast of its patron saint, the Sto. Niño de Prague, with simple but meaningful traditional activities on January 10-19, 2020 at the Padcal mine site.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Always Grateful and Faithful to Our Patron Sto. Niño de Prague for Philex Mining’s Continuous Operations.’
Lawyer Eduardo M. Aratas, chief of Philex’s legal and administrative division, said that the celebration started with novena masses every 5:15 pm from January 10-19, 2020.
On January 17, 2020 from 5 am to 5 pm, there will be distribution of Cañao meat which will be followed by a company-wide cleanup drive at around 7 am and the day will be capped by a live band concert sponsored by the Philex Rand and File Employees Union (PRFEU).
The traditional Araw ng Parangal wherein Philex will be honoring officials and employees that have served the company for quite some time will be held at the Sports Complex on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
The usual parade will be done before the formal program wherein Gov. Melchor D. Diclas will serve as this year’s guest of honor and speaker.
In the afternoon of January 18, 2020 team sports events will be conducted at the Sports Complex and the day will be capped by a community dance contest wherein regional director Exequiel Ronnie Guzman will be serving as the guest of honor and speaker during the said event.
On January 19, 2020, there will be a procession with Ati-atihan at around 6:30 am which will be followed by the traditional filed mass while the usual field demonstration will be held at the Sports Complex in the afternoon of the same day.
