TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Hundreds of the city’s residents gathered to avail PhilHealth Konsulta, Konsultasyon, Sulit at Tama, Caravan at the Tabuk City Gymnasium, spearheaded by the PhilHealth-Kalinga, in partnership with the city government through the City Health Services Office (CHSO).
The Konsulta Package offers preventive care including consultations, health screening and assessments, 13 kinds of laboratory tests, as well as drugs and medicines, all for free.
PhilHealth Regional Vice President Dominga Gadgad, MD, MPA expressed that Tabuk is lucky because it is the second local government in the whole Cordillera to receive the Konsulta Package right after Luna, Apayao on July 14.
He added that PhilHealth Kalinga plans to expand their Konsulta Package to all 6 municipalities in Kalinga.
Gadgad emphasized their desire to bring affordable healthcare to the people and encouraged them to visit barangay health centers for consultations if they feel ill.
One reason for the launch of the Konsulta Package was to address cases of patients succumbing to their illnesses due to lack of proper medical care and their financial incapacity to pay for hospitalization, the Regional VP said.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero expressed the gratitude of the city to PhilHealth for acting on the city’s request, and he lauded the untiring efforts of the personnel and staff of the CHSO, and the 4 rural health units (RHUs) for bringing an important service of the government closer to the people.
The mayor urged the people to visit their RHUs or the nearest healthcare facility if the need arises.
With their PhilHealth memberships, they should not be apprehensive, he said.
The mayor believes that if everyone is healthy, they can work better and help the city’s economy, and the province as a whole.
