LA TRINIDAD, Benguet March 10 – The Board of Directors of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) agreed to defer the earlier suspension of accreditation that it issued against the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) in deference to the representation made by Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap during its meeting today.
We were just informed by Secretary Duque and Philhealth President Atty. Dante Gierran that our appeal was dealt with positively and the Philhealth Board of Directors decided to defer the suspension of Philhealth accreditation of Benguet General Hospital.
Details are still sketchy at this point but we should have a clearer picture as soon as a formal notice is served, whether the suspension is totally lifted or just postponed. Regardless, this is a welcome development considering the fact that the hospital is due for suspension starting March 15 until June 12.
We would like to thank Philhealth President Atty. Dante Gierran who personally assured us that he will fight tooth and nail to ensure this outcome and also to other officials and personnel of the agency. Likewise, Secretary Duque for heeding our call and gave us every reason to be confident prior to the Board meeting. And of course to other members of the Board of Directors, who helped us one way or another, and listened to the appeal of the Benguet people. To our local officials headed by Governor Melchor Diclas who worked hand in hand with us, thank you as well. Foremost and above all, thank you to our God Almighty.
It is not over yet, we will make sure that this issue will be resolved in our favor. This is one big step heading into that direction. Our people deserve an efficient and effective health service delivery. Health protection for all should not be hampered. Mabuhay ang Benguet!
