TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Lieutenant Colonel Epifanio R. Gaminde VI, together with Kalinga State University (KSU) President Eduardo Bagtang, led the conduct of the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) to the National Service Training Program–Reserved Officer Training Corps (NSTP-ROTC) of KSU today, May 29.
RAATI is a yearly competition conducted by the Reserve Command (RESCOM) of the Philippine Army among state universities and colleges in the region which serves as a platform to showcase the skills and knowledge acquired from the ROTC program.
According to Gaminde, the activity aims to ‘determine the existing condition of the ROTC units in terms of administration, personnel, facilities, training aids, equipment and support extended by school authorities, to evaluate the degree and quality of training attained by the ROTC cadets in relation to the performance of army personnel assigned in ROTC units, to measure the degree of administrative efficiency, training management proficiency and quality of training and education attained by the corps of cadet, and to determine the best and poor performing ROTC units in the region as basis for awards and recognition’.
He said RAATI is ‘implemented on a blended approach focusing on events such as general administration that includes administrative inspection, ceremonial parade, rank inspection, close order drill, comprehensive examination, map reading, first aid, small unit tactics, knot tying, and weapons-M16 assembly and disassembly’.
Gaminde encouraged the Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST), which administers the ROTC program, to correct all the issues that will be identified during the inspection period.
“I encourage the DMST officers and personnel to fill in the gaps, rectify all the lapses that will be identified during the duration of the inspection”, Gaminde said. By Rod Asurin
