BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Health Office and the Bontoc General Hospital hosted the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony and program at the Provincial Plaza on March 24, 2025.
During the program, Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Caroline D. Yawan emphasizes the importance of the following health events: Rabies Awareness Month; Drowning Prevention Month; Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month; Philippine Digestive Health Week; National Women’s Month and World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.
In her trivia and discussions, Dr. Yawan encouraged the Provincial Government employees to prioritize their health for a longer and more fulfilling life. For rabies awareness, she reminded those with pets to be a responsible pet owner. She also gave tips and ways to prevent drowning, symptoms and ways to decrease the risk of colorectal cancer, signs of a healthy and energy ready digestive health.
Moreover, she reiterated the significance of celebrating the National Women’s Month and observance of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.
“The National Women’s Month Celebration 2025 underscores the government’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive governance. Through these initiatives, it envisions a society where all women’s potential is fully recognized and supported, ensuring a brighter future for everyone. Sa mga babaen anak, kapatid, kaibigan, at sa bawat ina at lola, tandaan – Mahalaga ka, dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat babae Mahalaga,” she said.
“World TB Day is an opportunity to focus on the people affected by this disease and to call for accelerated action to end TB suffering and deaths,” she added.
Furthermore, Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Annie Claire B. Pekas announced the schedule of the Lang-ay medical ans surgical caravan and consultation was moved from April 2-3 to April 4 and 5, 2025.
In his closing remarks, Provincial Administrator John K. Likigan, on behalf of Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., praised the PHO for their successful hosting of the Monday Program. By MP-PIO
