TADIAN, Mountain Province – The municipality will soon have a new fire station right in the town proper following the projected completion of the PhP10 million structure funded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) by the end of the year.
Mayor Constito Masweng said that the municipal government was lucky in accessing the funds for the construction of the municipal fire station from the BFP that paved the way for the implementation of the project early this year following the timely release of the funds that had been earmarked for it.
He claimed that the completion of the fire station building will help in improving the firefighting capability of local firefighters aside from providing the appropriate area for the fire trucks and other firefighting equipment.
The municipal executive said that the local government established a satellite fire station in Zone 2, particularly in barangay Masla, with the temporary use of the barangay’s multipurpose building while waiting for the permanent site for the fire station in a proposed government center in the area.
“We are working on the site development plan of the proposed government center in the municipality so that we can accommodate the various government offices, including some national agencies that have established offices in the municipality. We hope we will be able to access more funds to realize the put up of the proposed government center the soonest,” Mayor Masweng stressed.
The mayor is eying a 1.6-hectare property within the boundary of barangays Lubon and Masla which is the subject of dispute by the two barangays to be used as the site of the proposed government center that will also be beneficial to the feuding barangays and the residents of the municipality.
Mayor Masweng is also eying the put up of another satellite fire station in Zone 3 covering some five barangays in the Sunnyside area that will bring government services, especially firefighting efforts, closer to the communities.
Earlier, Masweng accessed from the BFP the PhP10 million funds for the construction of the new municipal fire station right within the compound of the municipal government in barangay Poblacion to ensure that the municipality will have a fire station compliant with the standards of the bureau pursuant to the government’s modernization of the BFP.
He added that the municipal fire station also got a new fire truck from the BFP for the main fire station while the town’s old fire truck was already deployed to the satellite fire station in Masla apart from the deployment of firefighters who will staff the said station.
Masweng said that the municipal government will aggressively continue to access the needed funding from concerned government agencies to sustain the effective and efficient delivery of basic services to the residents in the municipality to help spur economic activities and sources of livelihood of the people.
