LUNA, Apayao – To provide young workers with more opportunities to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service, Apayao Lone District Representative Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang allotted 11 million pesos for this year’s Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment.
The GIP initiative in the province has been receiving funding from Bulut-Begtang’s office since 2014. It is just one of the social programs being funded by the congresswoman alongside TUPAD, DSWD AICS and DOH MAIFIP, as well as TESDA’s STEP.
This year, the lawmaker has provided 6 million pesos and an extra 5 million pesos specifically for the GIP.
About 220 GIP interns are already benefitting from the funding. Said interns are usually temporarily employed and placed in different government departments and local government units throughout the province for periods ranging from three to six months.
According to DOLE-Apayao, many people in Apayao benefit through this initiative. Apart from the help it brings to augment income and alleviate living conditions of beneficiaries, it also provides an avenue for students to prepare themselves in their chosen careers.
Bulut-Bagtang, in previous talks, has consistently made commitments to keep funding the GIP in Apayao to empower and support young people in developing their full potential.
The Office of the Congresswoman urges the youth of Apayao to seize employment opportunities not only for their income generation but also to develop their skills and abilities to become more effective public servants. By Joyce Aria Soria
