ITOGON, Benguet – A total of 50 residents from the municipality of Itogon received their wages totaling PhP450,000 under the Emergency Employment Program (EEP) of the provincial government led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas.
The said program aims to alleviate the needs of displaced Benguet constituents by employing them for 15 days, working at their respective barangays while being paid. They earn 600 pesos per day for the said duration while doing community work like beautification, cleaning, weeding, among others, said Julie Tabcao, Provincial Labor Employment Officer.
The EEP employs a total of 150 individuals for two semesters while partnering with the municipal PESO for the identification of beneficiaries.
Governor Diclas expressed his commitment thru his representative Leo G. Calabias, Senior Public Utilities Regulations Officer, for the continuous delivery of numerous government programs and services towards HEALTHIER Benguet.
He also mentioned that with the continuous partnerships from barangay and municipal governments to the provincial government, the delivery of programs are much more efficient.
Meanwhile, Hon. Lison Latawan, one of the municipal councilors, expressed his warm welcome remarks on behalf of municipal mayor, Hon. Bernard S. Waclin, reminding the beneficiaries to spend well their hard-earned wages.
Also, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to governor Diclas, highlighting how beneficial the program is.
