The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club, Inc. is ready to stage its annual election of the new set of officers for the year 2025.
BCBC president Thomas Picana announced this week that he has created the Commission on Election and the members that will schedule the election, expectedly at the Benguet Electric Cooperative Dumol Hall on a date they will set.
The Comelec will be composed of four past presidents, namely Miguelito Velarde, Jr. as chairman, Jordan Tablac, lawyer Delmar Carino and Pigeon Lobien as well as retired Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera staff Joseph Zembrano, now a BENECO director.
Picana said that the election could be staged early February after one of the BCBC 2024’s flagship project, the Media Golf 2025 that is aimed to raise funds for the health insurance of its members and help fund needs of three media personalities who have health problems and have been unable to work for years.
Two active Baguio media are reportedly seeking the top post in the upcoming election, namely Dave Leprozo of Manila Standard and Dionisio Dennis, currently the vice president for radio, of DZWT/DZWR.
A resolution signed by Picana states: “That the election will pave the way for the new set of officers to oversee the management of the organization especially the staging of the Lucky Summer Visitors/Media Camp 2025 on April during the Holy Week.”
With the staging of the election, Picana hopes that the new set of officers will “be able to plan for said event, they must be elected the soonest.”
He added that the “Comelec will set the date of the Polls that will elect the president, the officers and the board of directors of the club;…” Pigeon Lobien/BCBC
