BAGUIO CITY – A 20-year old forth-class cadet of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) reportedly died after succumbing to alleged cardiac arrest due to internal hemorrhage inside the Academy’s barracks at Fort del Pilar, here, Wednesday dawn.
PMA authorities identified the fatality as Darwin C. Dormitorio, 20, single, a fourth-class cadet of the Academy and a native of Cagayan de Oro City.
Initial investigation showed that the victim allegedly complained of stomach pains that was followed by non-stop vomiting until he reportedly lost consciousness forcing his fellow cadets to rush him to the Fort del Pilar hospital.
However, the cadet reportedly expired after more than an hour of being provided with close medical supervision in the said hospital.
In an official statement, PMA authorities were saddened over the untimely demise of one of their cadets, saying that there is an ongoing investigation that was ordered to ascertain the real cause of the victim’s death.
PMA also assured that the Academy will be transparent in coming out with the outcome of the investigation considering the image of the institution as a premier military institution in the Asia-Pacific region.
