BAGUIO CITY- The Philippine Mining Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) has recognized three companies for being Pusong Minero Volunteers, providing assistance in the communities during times of calamities.
These companies are Monark, Phoenix Petroleum and JLSR Enterprises.
PMSEA president Luis Sarmiento said these three companies volunteered in the OPLAN Tulong during the typhoon Kristine bayanihan which devastated three towns of Batangas namely -Talisay, Laurel and Agoncillo.
Sarmiento said these three companies shared time and resources to clean waterways and clear bridges, among others in the different barangays of said towns.
The awarding of recognition took place during the Community Relations Conference (ComRelCon) on Wednesday (Nov. 20), a major part of the 70th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) held at CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Camp John Hay here.
‘’I’m personally proud of Pusong Minero because we have come a long way,’’ said Sarmiento, ASEAN Engineer and also the president of Apex Mining Corp.
‘Our collective commitment as vanguards of safety have been growing and getting stronger with each passing year,’’ Sarmiento stressed.
The PMSEA official pointed ‘’ while it is unfortunate to show our expertise in emergency management when there is disaster. foremost is to be at service to our kababayans.’
‘Indeed there is no greater way to give back to our communities.’
Earlier, in the opening of the mining exhibit, Sarmiento scored the support of 59 sponsors and 121 companies in the mining industry, and sought their continued support and collaboration.
He emphasized the firm commitment to safety and environmental sustainability, underscoring this years theme– Endurance and innovations for Sustainability.’
