CERVANTES, Ilocos Sur–The Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1, 102nd Maneuver Company officers in this town inaugurated the mini-library they established through a simple opening ceremony and cutting of ribbons on Dec. 13.
School officials and pupils of Lamagan Primary School, barangay officials, and the community witnessed the said ceremony.
PSINSP Jedd Harry P. Garcia, Deputy Company commander, emphasized in his speech the importance of reading as a means of developing the mind and becoming a competitive Filipino citizen.
He further stressed that the 102nd Maneuver Company will continue to support the project of the school.
The uniformed personnel of the said company collected hundreds of reading materials form the company’s advisory council and from other sectors like religious groups, business establishments, and education agencies.
With the establishment of a mini-library, the children in Cervantes have more reading materials and are expected devote their time in reading books than playing computer games for hours.
