Camp Major Bado Dangwa, LTB – Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) operatives arrested four rape suspects in different operations in Benguet and Kalinga on Thursday December 13, 2018.
In La Trinidad, Benguet, police arrested Elmer Bentay, 34, in barangay Tawang after a 13-year-old female student reported to the Municipal Police Station (MPS) that she was sexually abused by the suspect at their residence in the morning of Thursday December 13, 2018. Allegedly, the suspect threatened to kill her if she will tell anybody about the incident.
Further, in Mankayan, Benguet, Saturnino Sawey, 60, was arrested by operatives of Mankayan MPS at their residence for the crime he committed sometime in April this year. Meanwhile, personnel of Buguias MPS also arrested Joven Baban, 56, for sexually abusing a 14-year-old female in three different occasions from December 2017 to August this year. Both were arrested for the crime of rape through service of a warrant of arrest issued by the court.
In Kalinga province, Juanito Dollante Jr. was arrested by the police through service of a warrant of arrest for sexually abusing a female minor sometime in September this year. Allegedly, the suspect also threatened the victim not to tell anyone or something bad will happen to her.
All arrested persons are now in the custody of concerned units and facing appropriate charges.
PROCOR Regional Director, PCSupt Rolando Nana said that these kind of sensitive cases are properly addressed by the PNP especially that it involves women and children. He also added that documents are well prepared and reviewed by investigators so that perpetrators will sure end up in jail.
