CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – A total of 7,792 police personnel regionwide will receive free anti-pneumonia vaccines in line with the PNP Regional Health Service 1 campaign “Pneumonia No More sa PNP PRO1” which was launched October 22, 2018.
The activity is initiated by the PNP Regional Health Service 1 in partnership with the Department of Health Regional Office 1 which aims to provide health services and protect police personnel against pneumococcal infections caused by the most common types of pneumococci.
According to PSupt Janet M Homo, Chief, Regional Health Service 1, all interested PNP personnel will be vaccinated with PNUEMOVAX 23 with five (5) years protection against pneumococcal infection which is a leading cause of death throughout the world and is a major cause of pneumonia, swelling of the coverings of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis), middle ear infection (otitis media), and a severe infection in the blood (bateremia).
The PRO1 Regional Director, PCSupt Romulo E Sapitula led the vaccination as he was the first to receive the Pneumococcal Vaccine. He averred that PNP personnel should be protected from all kinds of health problems for them to perform their duties and responsibilities properly.
The PNP Regional Heath Service 1 will be visiting the four Police Provincial Offices to distribute said vaccines in other police offices.
