BONTOC, Mountain Province – Two alleged drug couriers were arrested while over P600,000 worth of marijuana bricks were confiscated from them by combined police operatives and intelligence agents during a police checkpoint at Latang, Lower Caluttit, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the arrested individuals as as Mark Justin Jemilla Dayrit, 22, and Bob Bruce Dionisio Jr., 21, both single and residents of Sitio Dau, Barangay Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Initial police investigation showed that police operatives established a checkpoint along the national highway that resulted to the flagging down of a red Izusu vehicle with license plate number XEL-162 where the arrested vehicles were on board.
During the visual search, the operatives were able to see a marijuana brick protruding at the back rest of the front passenger seat that prompted them to request the occupants to open their bags which resulted to the confiscation of 6 marijuana bricks weighing 6.11 kilos having a market value of over P600,000.
The confiscated items were immediately brought to the PNP crime laboratory for qualitative test.
The arrested suspects were brought to the Bontoc Municipal Police Station for documentation awaiting the filing of the appropriate charges against them.
