BAGUIO CITY – Following a significant success in the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) conducted days prior, Baguio’s Finest remains resolute in targeting lawless elements within its borders, as they nab the City’s No. 8 Top Most Wanted Person.
By virtue of a warrant of arrest, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) – Police Station 2 captured the 73-year-old accused at his residence in Pinsao Proper, Baguio City, on the afternoon of August 20, 2024, for a charge of statutory rape in violation of Republic Act 11648.
According to the statement of the minor, the incident transpired in January this year. Her grandmother’s support and encouragement pushed her to report the incident in July despite the man’s threats. The police office has since coordinated with the City Social Welfare and Development Office to ensure the victim receives counseling and assistance to aid in her recovery.
In relation to the incident, the Baguio’s Finest renews its commitment to building trust and collaboration within the community. Baguio police strongly encourage parents and guardians to maintain open communication with their wards.
In a statement, BCPO City Director PCol. Francisco B. Bulwayan, Jr. emphasized the vital role that community involvement plays in the nation’s fight against crime, stressing that the safety of the youth and the entire community depends on collective efforts. He also encouraged victims to come forward and seek help, assuring them that their voices are important and they will be supported throughout the process, “The BCPO is always open for those seeking assistance or wishing to share their experiences. Please do not hesitate to approach government offices for support,” he added.
