TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In celebration of Red Cross World’s Day this May 8, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Kalinga Chapter spearheaded several activities for learners of Tabuk City Central School (TCCS).
These activities include handwashing lectures for kindergarten pupils (hygiene promotion), distribution of 129 school supplies to struggling readers, feeding of 500 selected learners, blood typing for grade 4-6 pupils, and hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation for selected Grade 5 pupils.
In a dialogue with Floydelia Diasen, PRC Kalinga Chapter Chairperson, she said that TCCS was chosen as the recipient of the school health caravan after request was made by the General Parent-Teacher Association (GPTA) headed by Melody Dulawen, Social Welfare Officer of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
Diasen also said that it is important for young learners to embody and learn more about personal hygiene because it has an effect on their physical, social and mental state.
Dulawen has expressed her appreciation to the PRC Chapter Administrator Raymund Chan after approving their request, showing a strong partnership between the TCCS and PRC.
The PRC Kalinga Chapter implored the support of volunteers, parents and some college students in the conduct of the school health caravan.
PRC Kalinga Chapter has also laid down several events in identified communities to bring their services closer to the people.
