TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The 2023 Matagoan Festival and Tabuk City Founding Anniversary celebration this June is anticipated to be even greater and better as the city sets the stage for new, exciting activities and “leveled-up” performances of major crowd-drawing events.
Air Sports Show
Matagoan Festival Events Committee Chairperson Arlene Odiem during the press forum attended by barangay officials on June 1, said that among the most anticipated events is the staging of a Paramotor banner towing and air sports show during the Grand Ceremonial Opening on June 20 at the Kalinga Sports Complex where 10 paramotor groups will hold air exhibitions, performances, and a display of paramotor and paragliding equipment that is sure pique the interest of adventure seekers.
The best of Tabuk’s street dance performers are also gearing up for a showdown with performers from other provinces during the Invitational Street Dance Parade and Grand Showdown on June 23 for a one-of-a-kind performance. Dubbed “Pagkaisasayaw,” all contenders will perform a unity dance with all groups dancing together in one performance as a lead-up to the formation of five strands of beads using their props.
“Saan yun tun nga makita isuda nga agsisina ti pabuya da, pero nu agperform da they will perform altogether in one area of our streets and then to another area… We are going to ask them to have uniform movement dancing in one-song one-music and adda ti wow-effect na idiay last part nga ag-form da ti five strands of beads using their props,” Odiem said.
The Ms. Tabuk 2023 contest is shaping up to be the most competitive in the pageant’s history with 18 candidates sponsored to represent their respective barangays contending not only for the Ms. Tabuk title but also the pride of winning for their barangay the most coveted crown.
Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero said that the Matagoan Festival is an opportunity to showcase the progress of Tabuk City and its development as a thriving economic hub in the Cordillera through its infrastructure development, improved government facilities and services, and private investment. He enjoined all Tabukeños to work together to promote tourism in the city emphasizing the industry’s contribution to job creation and revenue generation.
