BONTOC, Mountain Province – Office of the President, Internal Affairs Office, Director IV Engr. Jimmy S. Santiago underscored the importance of gearing towards sustainable development while preserving the province’s rich culture in his powerful talk during the celebration of Mountain Province’s 58th founding anniversary at the MPGHS covered court, Eyeb, Bontoc, Mountain Province on April 7.
Director Santiago rallied the residents to take pride in honoring their heritage as they strive to reach greater heights in various fields. “Let us build bridges between tradition and modernity, ensuring that progress also comes at the expense of our identity,” he expressed.
He stated that their ancestral traditions, passed on to them, should endure while embracing modernity, emphasizing the significance of balancing cultural practices and progress. “The world is changing rapidly and we must adapt to new realities by remaining grounded in our cultural roots,” he enthused.
With the success of the province’s celebration of its 58th year, Director Santiago shared the community’s spirit of collaboration, reflected through their Inayan culture, which centers on communal unity. “This bond of solidarity has been the cornerstone of our success, and it brings us to overcome challenges and celebrate victories together,” he said.
Earning its national and global recognition, Mountain Province remains anchored by its rich heritage, as the community still practices ritual dances and traditions.
“Let us try to be ambassadors of our culture, sharing our stories, our dances, and our values with the world,” Director Santiago imparted to the residents while encouraging them to teach the youth lessons from the past.
Director Santiago is a native of Mountain Province who earned his position at the Office of the President, Internal Affairs Office.
