SANTA MARCELA, Apayao – Over 203 residents across Santa Marcela town benefited from the free medical and health services under Project Butsy, on November 19 at the EKB Clubhouse and Municipal Kiosk.
The services provided to the recipients included eye consultations, dental services and medical check-ups, facilitated by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in partnership with the Fred Hollows Foundation, Santa Marcela Rural Health Unit, and Santa Marcela District Hospital.
PHO staff said the majority of those served were senior citizens.
The Project Butsy dubbed as ‘’Bringing Universal Health Care Services Towards a Sustainable Program Implementation Yielding to Resilient yApayaos,’’ is the banner health program of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., which continues to reach the underprivileged and members of the marginalized sectors bringing at their doorsteps quality health care.
Gov. Elias C. Bulut Jr. has long been advocating and prioritizing health care services, primarily to those communities having difficulties to travel or be reached.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Mark Joleen Calban, in his previous talks, underlined the significance of Project Butsy in promoting public health and providing all yApayao access to much needed basic medical and health services as medical and health professionals now travel and go to where the residents are.
Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez, during the Project Butsy Caravan in her town, expressed appreciation to the Provincial Government for the continuous implementation of the program, and said she hopes the program will reach more residents in the municipality. By Joyce Arian Soria
