BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) proudly marked the celebration of this year’s National Statistics Month (NSM), continuing a long-standing execution of the Presidential Proclamation No. 647 established by former President Corazon C. Aquino. In commemoration of the 35th NSM, PSA-Benguet organized an Information and Education Campaign (IEC) at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Bayan Hall, Legislative Building, Capitol Compound, Km. 6, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Rosemary G. Badival, Project Officer of the Provincial Planning and Development Office Benguet, officially opened the event. Attendees included city/municipal civil registrars and city/municipal planning development coordinators from different municipalities and Provincial Statistics Members of Benguet including Baguio City, underscoring the collaborative nature of local governance efforts in the region.
The IEC served as a crucial forum for sharing updates and vital information on PSA Products and Services, covering key topics such as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), the Birth Registration Assistance Project, Civil Registration, Benguet Provincial Product Accounts, Establishments Statistics, Price Statistics and Construction Statistics.
Through these discussions, the PSA aimed to equip the locals with the necessary tools and knowledge to strengthen the statistical capabilities within their respective communities.
This year’s theme, “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” highlights the essential role of statistics in supporting informed decision-making and driving sustainable development. By spearheading initiatives like this, the PSA seeks to raise public awareness and foster a deeper appreciation of the significance of data in shaping national growth and addressing local needs.
The PSA remains deeply committed to promoting the use of statistical information as an indispensable resource for community development. By engaging local leaders and providing them with the right resources, the agency aims to build stronger, more data-driven governance structures throughout the Philippines.
