BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) cascaded to stakeholders in the Cordillera the national and regional statistics development plan purposely to allow decision and policy makers to come out with evidenced-based programs, projects and activities.
The Philippine Statistical Development Program is a national strategy for development of statistics of the Philippines, mechanism for setting directions, thrusts and priorities of the Philippine statistics system in the medium-term for the generation and dissemination of statistical information for policy and decision-making of the government, private sector and general public, contains priority statistical development programs and activities designed to provide vital information and support to national development planning and international commitments and a tool for integrating and coordinating the statistical activities of the government.
Among the Philippine Statistical System-wide concerns include management and coordination of the PSS, statistical capacity development composed of statistical human resource development and statistical research and development, statistical information management and dissemination, international cooperation, population and housing statistics, civil registration and vital statistics, labor and employment statistics, education and culture statistics, health and nutrition statistics, social protection statistics, security, justice and peace statistics, governance statistics, micro-economic accounts and statistics, industry, trade, services and investments statistics, agriculture and agrarian reform statistics, energy and water statistics, transport and infrastructure statistics, tourism statistics, monetary, price and financial statistics, science and technology and innovation statistics, environmental and natural resources statistics, local statistics development, income, poverty and hunger statistics, statistics on children and gender and development, information society and statistics and sustainable development goals monitoring.
The type of major statistical development programs included in the plan are surveys, and capacity development wherein it establishes the frameworks, indicators, systems and methodologies. The Decent Work Statistics – Philippines is a one-stop web-based portal for decent work statistics to widen awareness on decent work statistics to widen awareness on decent work among policy makers including those outside the labor sphere, unions and employers and researchers, and more importantly to facilitate effective monitoring and assessment of progress towards decent work in the country.
The features of the portal include the quick generation of cross-sectional and time series data on decent work statistics and easily transpose statistical tables to desired format; compute sums, percentages and other basic calculations; produce charts or graphs through its interactive facility for fast and easy analysis of data; download, print and save tabulations, summary statistics and charts or graphs in desired formats and print description and technical information about the indicators. The contents of the portal are economic and social context, employment opportunities, adequate earnings and productive work, decent hours, combining work, family and personal life, work that should be abolished, stability and security at work, equal opportunity and treatment in employment, safe work environment, social security and social dialogue.
