LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) recently announced the composition of the members of the 14-man ‘Pangasinan Basketball Team A’ also known as ” Pangasinan Dream Team,” a selection from various teams that participated in the recent 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament.
Considered the best players that saw action in the recent tourney which started in December last year, Pangasinan Team A will represent the province in various upcoming basketball competitions outside of Pangasinan.
In a meeting with the initial set of players of the newly-formed basketball team, Governor Amado I. Espino, III said the cagers selection is reflective of their commendable performance during the Governor’s Cup cagefest, a pioneering project for youth and sports development which the provincial chief executive launched last year.
Aside from representing the province in basketball tilts, the young basketball players from various parts of Pangasinan will also serve as youth and tourism development ambassadors of the province, Governor Espino said.
After the meeting, the “dream team” played an exhibition match with Governor Espino and Team Capitol at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center gym.
Members of the Pangasinan Team A are: Marven Jophet Mamaril (Lingayen), Mark Melendez (Binmaley), Manny Cristobal Santos (Manaoag), and Conrad Benedict Aquino (Asingan) — Guards; Roxar Melendez (Binmaley), Reynald Ballesteros(Calasiao), Elegio Agloro Jr, (Alaminos City), Ismael Sarmiento (Urdaneta City), and Florence Batalla (Urdaneta City) — Forwards; Christian Paul Cruz (Binmaley), Nico Celini (Alaminos City), Noel Barrozo (Urbiztondo), Jomar Ordona (Manaoag) and Aldrin Serafica (Manaoag) — centers.
Meanwhile, PSMDC Executive Officer Modesto Operania said that Pangasinan Team A is the officila team of the province in basketball leagues if yourh games and invitational tournaments.
