LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Pangasinan provincial board has approved a resolution that authorized Governor Amado I. Espino III to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Association of Social Workers Incorporated (PASWI)-Pangasinan Chapter, for the provision of behavioral healthy and psychosocial support service in the aftermath of a disaster.
Duly approved during the regular session on June 19, Provincial Resolution No. 784-2017 was authored by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Raul P. Sison and Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario who head the committees on children, women, senior citizen, family affairs and social welfare, health and laws and ordinances.
Recognizing the importance of providing behavioral health and psychosocial support services to the public, the authors noted in the resolution that “it is essential that a program would be implemented by the province in order to protect the behavioral health and psychosocial well-being of victims of disasters.”
In addition, the resolution further stated: “the province of Pangasinan needs the technical expertise and manpower of the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Incorporated, Pangasinan Chapter, an agency which provides disaster behavioral health and psychosocial support services.”
A MOA will soon be signed by Gov. Espino and PASWI-Pangasinan Chapter represented by its president Wilma S. Coquia.
