LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado I. Espino, III is set to receive its 4thNational Corn Achievers’ award (provincial category) on November 23 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Pangasinan under the administration of former governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr. harvested two national corn achievers award given by the Department of Agriculture (2013 and 2014).
In 2016, under the watch of Governor ‘Pogi’ Espino, Pangasinan bagged its third national corn achievers award, which recognizes the outstanding performance of stakeholders in the corn industry.
It can be recalled that on September 6 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, DA evaluated Pangasinan’s performance on corn production where OIC Provincial Agriculturist Moya presented the accomplishments and programs of the provincial government on corn production.
The provincial corn production development program of Pangasinan aims to make the province as one of the major producers of high-grade yellow corn to support the emerging livestock in Pangasinan and to support the government’s thrust for food security and self-sufficiency with readily available alternative staple food for the community.
Pangasinan likewise sustains its consistent excellent performance on rice production for having been elevated as Hall of Famer in Rice Achievers’ awards, taking credit to its three- consecutive-year (2012, 2013 and 2014) of winning the said award. Last May 23, Pangasinan received its 4th Rice Achievers’ award.
Sto. Tomas and Alcala towns will also be conferred with awards on corn production.
Governor Espino will be joined by Moya, and Acting Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla on the awarding ceremony.
