LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) successfully concluded a two-day screening and orientation for the qualified applicants for Apayao barangay social welfare workers (BSW)
Said orientation attended by 138 qualified applicants from various municipalities in the province was held at the Casa Lacuesta, San Isidro Sur, Luna and EKB Clubhouse Kabugao and Conner on October 29 and 31, 2024.
Through the leadership of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., the provincial government adopted and expanded employment opportunities for professional workers in the province, allotting additional funds through Apayao Socio-Economic Efforts Necessary for Growth. With the program, the hiring of BSW-Workers-1, 1 Barangay and increased incentives were made possible. The wages of BSW-Workers are now at 450/ day and renewable for every 3 months. The workers are deployed at the barangay level, with the new hires starting work this month of November – December.
In her message Jocelyn A. Loyon, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, congratulated all the applicants for passing the screening process. During the orientation, Loyon emphasized the importance of upholding good and proper values for better work and service.
Loyon highlighted the dos and don’ts of their roles and underscored the dedication, commitment, and passion required to serve effectively, encouraging the BSW-Workers to be exemplary in their performance, noting that this opportunity could be a stepping stone toward securing a permanent position within the provincial government.
Additionally, Loyon reminded those who are not yet eligible to attend review classes to obtain their necessary qualifications, as these will be essential for permanent employment. By Michelle Acantilado
