LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Over 8,000 children enrolled at various child development centers in the province are expected to benefit from the Food-for-Growth Program and Daycare Learning Materials Program of the provincial government.
Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas and Provincial Social welfare and Development Officer Juana Bannawe led the distribution of boxes of milk and learning tools to representatives from the different child development centers in the 13 municipalities early this morning, July 20, at Provincial Capitol.
Along with the said items, 10,000 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Checklist books were given to the child development workers (CDWs) as their tool to help determine the progress of the development of the children. The administration of the checklist includes the monitoring of the gross motor, fine motor, self-help, receptive language, expressive language, cognitive, and social-emotional domains of the children.
In his message for the CDWs, Governor Diclas stressed the importance of children’s nutrition expressing his hope for a strong collaboration with the municipal governments and agencies concerned to strengthen their collective nutrition program. He also encouraged the CDWs to help check on the immunization status of the children stating the significance of complete child immunization to reduce the number of families frequenting clinics or hospitals due to their sick children.
The governor ended his message with his gratitude to all the CWDs for their continued sacrifices in ensuring the development of the children. He also thanked the office of Ms. Bannawe for their valuable service for the welfare of the people of the province.
