BAGUIO CITY – The People’s Television Network (PTV) and Office of Civil Defense–Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR) forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today instituting an Emergency Broadcast System in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The MOU lays down the partnership of PTV and OCD-CAR in the management protocols in providing real-time region-wide emergency broadcasts and other disaster-related advisories through traditional and non-tradition (i.e., online) media.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Richard S. Valdez, Station Manager of PTV Cordillera, emphasized in his message the advantage of this system on monitoring and warning core function of the Cordillera RDRRMC Emergency Operations Center (EOC) being manned by OCD-CAR.

OCD-CAR Regional Director Albert A. Mogol explained that this partnership (and the system) is geared towards enhancing disaster resilience in the Cordilleras through public information management, education, and dissemination.
“This Emergency Broadcast System will definitely strengthen disaster preparedness and planning from the regional down to the family level.
This system will provide necessary and timely, relevant, responsive information on existing risks and hazards which will guide the stakeholders and families what to prepare for,” he added.
Meanwhile, OCD-CAR and PTV Cordillera already tested airing emergency broadcasts in early 2020 particularly in advising the public to stay alert and prepared for usual hydro meteorological hazards in the Cordilleras like thunderstorms and tropical cyclones.
